As part of Nur Energie's drive to become a leading player in the solar market the company has become a partner of a number of international initiatives that’s promote renewable energy including DESERTEC Foundation and MedGrid.
Nur Energie is a partner of the DESERTEC Foundation, a global civil society initiative aiming to shape a sustainable future. It is a non-profit foundation that is working on the fast global implementation of the DESERTEC Concept, a comprehensive solution for a clean energy future that combats climate change, ensures a reliable energy supply, and promotes development and security. With around 20 staff members and regional network coordinators, and a large global community of supporters, it is active around the world to inform the civil society sector and politicians about the benefits of DESERTEC, promote the establishment of the framework conditions necessary for a global transition to renewables, support knowledge transfer and scientific co-operation and foster exchange and co-operation with the private sector. Nur Energie is also a founding shareholder of MedGrid (formerly TransGreen), an initiative launched by the French Government to promote renewable energy export from North Africa. MedGrid responds to a strong need for underwater direct current interconnections (HVDC) between the two shores of the Mediterranean Sea that allows co developments of electricity exchanges in the Mediterranean basin. CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric Systems) is one of the leading worldwide organizations on Electric Power Systems, covering their technical, economic, environmental, organizational and regulatory aspects. It is a non-governmental and non-profit, international association addressing issues related to planning and operation of power systems, as well as design, construction, maintenance and disposal of HV equipment and plants. Nur Energie recently joined CIGRE as a collective member in order to add value through proving knowledge and information in the respective areas.
In Italy Nur Energie has become a member of ANEST, the Italian Association for Solar Thermal and CSP and in France Nur Energie is also a member of DERBI, Capenergies and Syndicat des Energies Renouvables.
Finally Nur Energie was also an Associated Partner of Dii until December 2012. The Dii was founded to pave the way for the establishment of a framework for investments to supply the MENA region and Europe with power produced using solar and wind energy sources. The long-term goal is to satisfy a substantial part of the energy needs of the MENA countries and meet as much as 15% of Europe’s electricity demand by 2050. The Dii now consists of 17 shareholders.
