The forum was focused around the economic and social situation of Tunisia and in particular debates took places on the financial challenges as well as the investment environment and types of opportunities available in Tunisia by a number of leading UK and Tunisian professionals.

Mr. Mike Coombs, CFO of Nur Energie and TuNur Ltd, was invited to talk about the TuNur Project in Tunisia which aims at producing and exporting 2GW of solar energy from Tunisia’s deserts to Europe.

During the panel session on Investment Opportunities, New Investment Code and a Focus on the Socially Responsible Investments, Mike introduced the TuNur project, its impacts in terms of investment, job creation and industrial integration in Tunisia. He also pointed out the challenges the project is facing in the democratic transition phase the country is going through, yet the confidence the Managers have in Tunisia, a country that is abundant with solar energy and with great skills adequate for the project.
