Chairman and CEO of Nur Energie, Kevin Sara presented at the Moroccan Energy exchange held in Edinburgh on the 12th October 2015.
The Morocco Energy Exchange brought together key members of the kingdom’s energy team and Moroccan energy professionals to Edinburgh on 12 October 2015. The event provided updates and insights into future developments of Morocco`s ambitious solar and wind generation plan and plans to import LNG and for exploration in promising areas along the Atlantic Margin.
The Moroccan Solar Program, Masen has made major progress in implementing its target of reaching 2000 MW of installed solar power by 2020. Masen has made progress to install 500MW of solar capacity at Ouarzazate having reached financial close for Noor II (200MW) and Noor III (150MW) concentrated solar power plant. Noor I is currently under construction and generation is expected to start in 2015. Masen has also released tenders for a number of PV projects within Morocco.
Nur Energie participated at the event as a key player in the Moroccan Solar Energy sector. Mr Kevin Sara spoke about the clarity and stability of the Moroccan regulatory regime, and the attractiveness of the solar resource in the region. He also reminded the audience that Morocco was already connected to the European grid via Spain, and of the possibility of exporting solar power from North Africa to Europe.
