What we do

Since 2011, TuNur has been developing the first solar export project between North Africa and Europe.

TuNur is a 2.25 GW solar export project from Tunisia to Europe consisting of CSP tower plants with molten salt storage in Rjim Maatoug, Southern Tunisia with a dedicated HVDC transmission line. Once landed in Europe, 10,000 GWh of low carbon power will be sold to customers across Europe per year, starting from 2020.

The project will contribute significantly to the decarbonization of the European grid by opening a new energy corridor between North Africa and Europe, purposefully built for the transportation of solar energy from the Sahara desert to the European grid. At the same time, the project will provide a strong stimulus to relaunch the Tunisian economy and put it on a path toward sustainable growth.
