Nur Energie is developing the first CSP tower power plant in Greece.

Kevin Sara, CEO of Nur Energie, outlined the company’s solar energy activities across the Mediterranean region at the International Herald Tribune Conference, Athens Energy Forum on the 25th-26th of February 2013.

Taking place in Greece, at the crossroads of 3 continents, the “Athens Energy Forum 2013: Energy Outlook in Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean” offered insight into the business and political reality in Greece, Southeast Europe and the East Mediterranean region. The two day conference focused on the following topics:

  • Energy and Regional Geopolitics
  • Upstream Oil & Gas Development the Caspian and SE Mediterranean
  • Major Gas Transportation Projects in SE Europe and the East Med
  • The Economic Development of Greece
  • European Energy Roadmap for Southeastern Europe & the Eastern Mediterranean

  • Restructuring the Greek Electricity Market
  • Future of Power Generation

The conference hosted more than 400 industry leaders, officials and media representatives from Greece and abroad providing the opportunity to network with those leading energy policy and strategy across Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean and to learn more about developing new business and investment opportunities.

Mr. Sara discussed Nur Energie’s 50MW Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) tower project that is being developed on the Island of Crete with Nur’s local partner Motor Oil Hellas. The MINOS project is the most advanced CSP project under development in Greece and was recently awarded a €42 Million grant by the European Union from the NER300 programme which was set up to fund innovative clean technology projects across Europe. The project will produce enough energy to supply 25,000 homes on the Island and will be one of the most technically advanced and efficient solar projects in all of Europe.
